History of Observatory The 8" Newtonian telescope was produced in 1999 by Vixen company and in 2001 donated to HRC by Falah high school , then HRC prepared other its accessories (eyepieces, CCD, Filters, Softwares, Computers, ...). After an great agreement between HRC and Shirin Nam Trading Company, K1 observatory was built, and telescope installed on top of factory building over height about 30m from ground. In 2001, after successful photography from Lunar eclipse and then in 2002 from Saturn and Moon overlap the observatory became famous and Iranian media covered it. Other major projects are Study for Effects of Sun Rotation on its Surface Happenings , Sun Processor , Moon Observation for last crescents Moon, Mapping of the Moon, Transit of Venus 2004, Meteor Shower Radio Observation, Astrophotography, ... .
First Result From Sun Processor In 2002 HRC decided to found Phoenix program to solve some problems in K1 activities. At the start of the project, Ms Hoda Sarrafnejad came from Rahnema International company to help HRC in this way. The 8 inch telescope and advanced computer controlled drive mechanism were reinstalled. The telescope and its main server equipment, including the CCD camera system, were placed into new programming. Dr. Rafieinia and other researchers, immediately started using the system to solve some problems. After all of these, Mohammad Akoochekian in astronomy and astrophysics gathering 2003, introduced the program to all. In may 7, 2003 the first public test of Phoenix was done successfully. So Program was available for all. Phoenix is the first live astronomy program in Iran and middle east. Today, the 8" telescope is completely computer controlled and can be operated remotely through the use of computer and modem. Remote Astronomy Software available from Meade, is used to bring control of the Phoenix telescope into the classroom. One component of this software, "The Sky" also allows teachers and students to prepare an observing schedule based on the date and time of the scheduled observation. For more information about K1 observatory CLICK HERE
