Perseid Meteor Shower 2004
August 12, 2004, amateur group of
HRC Astronomy dept established a camp beside the K1 observatory because of
perseid meteor shower. This observer team was consist of about 20 ones who
viewed the sky by their bright ready eyes. They record meteors properties such
as color, magnitude and constellation.
The observers arranged in 4 group,
and each group observe a quarter of sky.
G.1) North
G.2) South
G.3) East
G.4) West
After a good observational night,
they calculated their results and reported in following text:
Observation Place : K1
observatory, Isfahan, Iran
Date of observation: Aug 12, 2004
Time : 20:30 - 00:30 (UT)
Number of meteors in maximum (N) =
115
Population index (R) = 2.6
Limited magnitude (LM) = 5.5
Maximum altitude of Perseus
constellation (D) = 40°
Time of maximum : 20:30 - 21:30
So according to equation ZHR = N*R(6.5-LM)/Sin(D),
this parameter will be calculated.
ZHR = 465
Then the meteors properties are
arranged in the following tables:
